Ron Silva's 501" Small block - 06/26/23 05:07 PM

Does anyone know whatever became of Ron and that badazz 500" SB Dart of his?

I was looking for it in the tech archives I couldn't find anything. I think (I don't rememeber exactly) it was a Siamese R3 block and it was like 4.22" Bore and a rifle drilled 4.5" stroke crank.

I remembered we ran the exact same Bullet cam lobes/Grind in his 501" small block and my 517" big block.

Thanks!!

It's Funny how memory fades, i could have sworn that motor was over 500" and it was a Dart not a Valiant. (correction ...it WAS 501" so (I hope) I'm not losing my mind! yet! Ron's call-out name of 449Valiant I guess threw me off)

I think they call it " The Mandella effect"

Thank you!

I really liked Ron from the moment we met and The Mopar Nats when the guy from Miami bought his car and Dave Duceck's Challenger the same weekend. I always enjoyed his posts and respected him tremendously, I hope he and his family are all happy and well.

I saw that car once at Woodburn when he towed up from CA. That car really stood out from everything else. The attention to detail was amazing. I talked to Ron a little bit, he seemed like a cool guy.

Believe the “hoo rah” around that build is when he showed himself the door here iirc. He’s been “into” the Gen 3 stuff since that build. Nice guy but a bit eccentric. He lives in Kingman AZ now. Sure has had a slew of top notch rides…..

Met Ron at Speed World years back when he owned the Demon. Nice guy and super smart. We were both on the HellCat/Demon forums for a bit, and I'm sure he's still on it.

he's on hellcat.org and I think just sold or is selling his Demon because he got a deal worked out on a D170.

We talked the other day when I found out he lives in AZ as well and he sold it ages ago but it's up for sale again for $50,000 from what Ron said. We will be hanging out soon here and I'll get more info...

Seen Ron at the Mopar race up here and at Irwindale a time or two. Smart guy who built some really nice stuff. Seems to have a really good handle on the hellcat stuff as well.
