E body 1970 Challenger with rallye hood BB clearances issues - 06/23/23 05:20 AM

I have a customer that wants me to build him a pump gas 500 HP street motor, I want to use a pair of the Eddy RPM 88.0 CC heads with their 440 Performer RPM intake and a Holley double pump with a after market drop base air cleaner. is that doable with say a fourteen inch diameter 3 9inch tall element with a two inch drop base help
All help appreciated and thanks in advance bow up

I used the same combination on '70 Charger with a power bulge hood, no problems up

Thanks for the help, I do have several different lowered depth base plates so hopefully one of them will luck
I have had issues using a 3.0 deep lowered base plate for Dominator carb on my old race car that wouldn't cleat the throttle stop cylinder, that car( 1970 Cuda Grand Coupe) had a big hood scoop on it so the height and depth of the air cleaner base and lid wasn't a factor on how it fit wrench
Thanks again up:Cab

I've run that top end on early Bs ('63 & '64 Savoys), and needed a drop-base filter; it all fit fine. Different body, obviously, but "tighter".
Somewhere, I saw a height measurement on the BB Perf RPM vs BB OEM intake, if you're able to do a mock-up.
I'm thinking the Rallye hood buys some space vs the early B.
You might Google some Challenger engine by photos & see if they help.

There is lots of room under the R/T type (2 scoop) power bulge hood

My '73 Challenger has the Rallye hood with a 383. I have an edelbrock 750 carb with a thin carb gasket only, rpm manifold, 1.5" air cleaner base drop, and a tall 3" filter. Looks like I have 1/2" - 3/4" clearance to the hood. I'm not sure how much taller a 440 is, but it would be pretty close to the hood with what I'm using.

Thanks for that help, the deck height is a little higher on the 440 and the type valve covers used come into play also but they shouldn't come into play on the clearances to the highest part of the motor: luck:
