THE best thing to learn from this.......

Sit in your car , suited up and go through the routine, INCLUDING the shut down
AND yes if you have a parachute, pull it every pass. Pulling the chute is what keeps the car straight and helps it stop safely

I had a coworker that ran a 7 sec Mustang, and asked him why he pulled the chute even running 1/8th mile, at Brainerd, which has PLENTY of shutdown, he told me it's simple natural habit for him. He said the people that never pull the chute, are the ones that think it only needs to be pulled in an emergency, but by then it's too late. he also said it's free brakes. Why burn up your expensive brakes, when the chute does a lot of the work? Needless to say, I asked him what chute he recommended? STROUD. Told me you can throw the thing into a ball, and it will still open. His was well abused, and ALWAYS worked.

I've been told the same. Get into the habit of pulling the chute and it could save your butt in the event something bad were to happen.
Everyone also recommended a Stroud chute.

Chute no chute really won't matter if you try to pump up or jab at a car with carbon brakes. Its going for a ride period. Lost a few pro stock cars back when they first came out with them for the same reason. They are a different animal all together. They do not do much when you first hit them and then people panic, but once they get some heat in them they work great but they require heat to work unlike steel brakes that fade with heat. If you have never driven a car with carbon brakes it can feel unnerving at first. But they can stop a fuel car from 330 when the chute fail, they are great brakes but have to be treated differently.
