1050/4150 vs dominator on 400-2 intake? - 12/22/22 09:31 PM

Just curious if anybody has an idea what I might gain by going to a dominator on my combo. My 4150 runs great but I can’t help but wonder how much it’s holding my combo back.
511 ci
Tf 270 heads
Indy 400-2 ported
Ported 400-2 intake
11.6 to 1
2 to 2 1/8 header
265/269 .660 roller on 108lsa.

On the dyno it made 742hp/699tq with a 950hp Holley.
But was pulling 1.8in hg at 5300. The carb I’m running is Marginally bigger. I’m mostly curious if I would gain much using the 4150 intake with adapter. I am only going to do it if it’s worth 20+ hp. My proform 1050 works well and has great street manners.
It’s in a 3600 race weight cuda with a tkx 5 speed. 4.10 Dana and a 29x11.5 slick.
I made one easy pass last summer since I didn’t have a cage yet and just wanted to get a feel for the car. I went 11.26@130.5 but this spring I want easy mid 10s or lower.
I feel am 1150 would be what it will take to feed this beast. What are your thoughts?

On the dyno a good 1050 or maybe 1150 Dominator will pick up 15 to 20 hp if you use a good Dominator intake. Using a Dominator with an adapter is a crap shoot. It usually doesn't work very well but sometimes it works okay. At 750 hp you are probably better off with a really good 4150 carb on your existing intake. The best 4150 I've ever run on an engine like that was a QF 1050AN. I used one of them when dyno testing my 470 combinations.

I know a lot of SO CA racers that insist that running the tapered 4150 to 4500 carb adapter is faster at the track than using a 4500 intake with a 4500 carb. bolted onto it shruggy Me thinks the added volume of the spacer may be worth some gain, how much I do not know shruggy
I haven't done a A, B, A test at the track either so confused work
I have dyno tested a Wilson 1.5 inch thick reversion spacer on a Studka brand dyno in Madras years ago and it was worth 8 HP at 6500 RPM on my old pump gas stroker motor out of my Duster shruggy

My 446 ci 12.1 comp 613/276 solid cam stage four heads ported and a M -1 intake manifold with a 850 carb , put a 1050 with 2 inch adapter

11.20s on the 850carb

11.00s on the 1050 Dominator

10.85 123 mph with a stop sign used as a air box to the six pack hood

Cab, I run a 2” spacer with the 4150. I gained 15hp on the dyno going from 1” to a 2” spacer. I think my best bet will be to find a dominator that’s proven that I can bolt on and try at the strip. Or a chassis dyno.

Every car I put a Dommy on picked up and some more than others even with the adapter especially blended and ported into the manifold. Your combo would love it I guarantee it IF it's built and tuned right for your combo.....Do not go with an 1150 you are too heavy and will loose much needed booster signal..

My 440 roadrunner going from a 4150 950 holley alcohol to a 4500-3 and 1050 Ken Jones alkyd carb, picked up .15 and 2 mph
