Indy max lifters

Question
I tried doing a search here on lifter oiling on Indy max blocks, found some good info.
My son picked up a all aluminum 572 Indy max without the lifter bores drilled.
It has spray bar oiling now, but how do the actual roller lifter get oiling on this setup?
It has comps needle bearing #87016 lifters in there now, but we have lost all trust in Comp,
We were Running 892 offsets in our 511 B1 and ate a lifter, took cam with it..
Looking at BAM for both motors.. but back to original question how does roller get oil if any in these Indy blocks without holes ?
Our low deck 511 is a 230 block with bronze bushed bores, will be ordering the bronze bushed BAM’s for that..
want to order Bam for Indy motor also but confused..thanks

I'm using Comp Cams offset rockers in my Indymaxx block, the lifters only get oiled from the oil coming from the rocker arms. We get around 4-5 seasons out of a set of roller lifters.

thank you - is it recommended to use needle style vs bronze bushed in this situation ?

Most of the early non pressurized solid roller lifter use splash oil to lube the needles and axles from the crankshaft oiling being thrown out as they revved up

It probably depends on who you talk to and what their using them on and for what application their using them in.
I have not used bush solid roller lifters yet, but I buy the best solid roller lifters I can get like the Crower big wheel race lifters
We need some racers on here who are using them, bushed solid roller lifters, to chime in on what they think and have found on them

Call brad at BAM, he WILL talk your ear off about lifters. LOL
FYI, without pressure, you will need to go to needles for splash oiling.

I've had bushed roller lifters (Howards) in my max block for 600 passes now. No trouble with the splash lube so far. I do change oil often, maybe that helps. Motor was inspected at 320 runs, freshened at 500 runs.

I just got a set of BAM bushed lifters , from Dwayne Porter, for an Indy Max block build, BAM says and thinks they will be fine with splash oiling. That build is going together and waiting for parts now.

For this....any updates on this subject on lifter oiling.

If the block is not drilled for oiling (optional on Indy blocks) the only oil they get is the drain back from the top (which is plenty). You cannot run any hydraulic lifter or lifters that oil the bushing or bearing unless you drill it or plumb oil to each lifter bore by a Frankenstein Manifold in the lifter valley (not recomended ) Todd

Thxs...Todd if these blocks receive oil from the rockers as was said, my concern you be running these motors on cold start up. I'm guessing it would be a good ideal to invest in a prelude of some sort (Accusump,peterson preluber).

The Indy valley traps a lot of oil that remains after shutdown but yes you are correct that the lifters in the first few seconds of startup get very little if they were not drilled for it. Regular lifters can handle this without much trouble but YES I suggest a preoiler on any serious motor. It is just cheap insurance on high dollar pieces. We used to block ALL the oil off to the left side lifter galley and those motors ran fine. Not much anymore as most guys wanting that type of deal just buy a race block. Todd
