I’m hoping for a Norwalk kind of turn out personally, it is the first year but I feel like it has been well promoted and it’s the same weekend as Monter Mopar would have been if it wasn’t cut and replaced with a tractor pull.

Your information regards why Monster Mopar didn’t happen at Norwalk this year had nothing to do with the tractor pull. Zilch, zip, nothing.
The Mopar event is planned to be supported at Norwalk and promoted by the track itself next year.

I was just stating it at face value, I figured there was a lot more at play than that, and I have been hearing rumblings of the track putting on their own Mopar event next year as well, am I a bit salty that an event I have been going to since it started isn’t happening this year yes, do I think the last few promoters of the event have done it any favors, no. That being said I truly hope the track takes it over, I will most definitely support it, I made my first pass ever at that event when it was the Chrysler Classic almost 20 years ago.

They have KOS listed so Hopefully they have enough guy’s show up to run it that they have a class.

I'll be there it's only half hour from my house. Looks like it's gonna be a cooker.

Thanks everyone. Hit the age of having 1 kid in the house versus 3 so finding some hobby time.... Knocking the rust off on what events exist etc. Might see some of you there. Safe racing to all participating.

Any updates on how turnout looks?

The track posted on Thursday asking racers to pit as tight as possible. I’d imagine that means they are expecting a big turnout.

Had a great time and the turn out was pretty good. We did have a couple issues with the weather on Saturday but it dried up and racing resumed.
I will go back to the D42 show again next year. That track always has a family atmosphere and it feels good to be there.

Re: Mopar Madness Dragway 42 - 07/25/22 06:02 PM

My weekend was fun. Great to see a lot of people that I missed last year. Weather was a challenge with varying wind speed, and direction. Not to mention D/A up to 4300+. Car was very good. Slowed it to run 9.25. Took quite a bit of ballast. Last two qualifiers we went 9.256, 9.255. The 60 ft grouping with ballast over 7 runs Saturday and Sunday varied best to worst by .011. And that is foot braking with no rpm chip. The driver R/T wasn't as good. After 7 passes with the exception of a ok .031 I was stuck between .043 -.055. 1st rd was .021 had the guy by a bunch and lifted. My prediction was off by about .025. Looked like we had a 4-6 mph direct head win for a 13 minute period during that run time. Rd 2 I built in .015 for wind. By looking at data this time the head gusts stopped about 2 minutes before the run. Car ran 9.234. Unfortunately the driver was -.003. Track prep was good. Event ran in a timely manner. What didn't I like? Friday $40 6 pm - 10 pm T&T the guy says 3 runs only. I ask why ? He says to many cars. But wait. We have time to add an unscheduled gamblers race for another $50. Can I test during the gamblers? No. Then the next day I'm told that there was testing. The 2nd item is one race over a weekend. 180 miles one way for one race at $150 + $50 for Saturdays gambler +40 for Friday. Vs payout. Not the best value.

Thank You to Gus and Russ for your help, truly a great time. Turnout was over 200 cars … with the help and input of racers this could be a greater event

PS we had to duck a lot of gun fire between rounds and the amount of cash changing hands on starting line caused us to have a Brinks Truck bring more money pity boogie

Re: Mopar Madness Dragway 42 - 07/28/22 09:14 PM

I think they mentioned over 300 total entries (alot of double entries).

We only went up for Sunday because the weather was just HOT, MUGGY, and miserable.

I crew cheifed while momma rolled down to 3 cars in sportsman before the winner strapped a .005 on her.

Ron spares no effort at Dragway42 and I'd encourage any doubters to make the journey next year for the Mopar race or the RockNRace (hopefully its not 104 degrees next year).
