2 inch headers for 77 W150 Truck - 11/30/21 05:49 PM

Anyone know of 2 inch headers that will fit a 77 W150 truck? I can only find 1 3/4. I heard TTI A body ones might work but can’t get definite answer. Thanks

Beautiful truck. What is in it? Do you really need 2 inch headers?

Thanks, been wanting one for years. Finally found a clean one. The engine 528 from Todd Goodwin so 2 inch would be the way to go. It’s going to be my first time using the Holley Sniper EFI, I’m pretty jazzed. Staying with 727 but changing out the NP203 for NP241DHD.

Cool. I’m really trying to find something that I use with full exhaust. I read in past searches from today that TTI 2” “A” body headers will work on these trucks, can anyone confirm that?

From what I’ve read and looking at my lil red the frame is real tight around the engine, pipes will have to tuck close till under that wide frame.

just what i am familiar with about truck headers, 1 3/4" tube size, the tubes come out of the heads and "drop down" farther from the first turn than A/B/E body headers, before they turn rearward.
if that makes any sense.

Looks like I’ll have to give up the look I wanted and just move forward with the Mad Dogs

These are headman, you can see how far they drop

cudaman, thanks for confirming what i thought about [what little i know of] truck headers. up
i would imagine a guy could take a set of 2" pipes and modify them to fit, but how good are your fab skills, and how much stuff is in the road on a 4x4 truck compared to a B or an E body ?
the steering box is mounted at approximately the front of the engine, correct ?
the steering shaft will miss the pipes ?

Can’t say for sure but those two center pipes down at the 90 turn juts out quite a bit which makes the collector sit way over two. The fender well is huge so maybe those fw headers above would work out better.? Bad part is crossing back under the frame

I am just test fitting my drivetrain into my ramcharger. The Maddogs could stand to be about a 1/2" longer before they turn down.I am going to have to do something with the shock mount to move it inboard a little.

that is a nice 4x4 truck! worth the waiting I am sure. man those mad dogs look sweet. me wants a set of those! where do you find them at????

best fitting BB 4x4 headers are the hedman 79250. I have those on my 440/727 d100 they work in a 2x or 4x chassis. ( I had them on my 86 w150 440/727 4x4 chassis) best thing is the tubes do NOT hang down below the lower frame rail either side 2x or 4x4 chassis.

remember the 4x4 chassis with inside chassis headers have to clear the front diff/shaft as it moves. well I guess once you get over 8" lift it wont matter

some of the B-body headers can be made to work in the 2x truck chassis by trimming on the top frame rail for tube clearance...but again they don't work well in a 4x4 chassis.

I have a set of 2" hooker e-body headers and can tell you for 100% they do not fit in a truck chassis. but I have seen some B-body headers hacked into 2x trucks.... but then they look hacked in there to me.

I did my mud trucks custom headers outside the frame rails all the way back to rear axle is plenty of room to hang muffs and run pipes back same as the LRE trucks with stacks. added benefit is when cleaning/servicing or doing R&R on the 4x4 drivetrain it leave plenty of clearance for working.

Thanks for info. Would a 1/4” spacer behind the header flange help?

I purchased them directly from Mad Dog, super nice people they are $599 with a 4 to 6 week delivery and no money down. I’ll do my best to keep them nice and tight and out of sight. Trying to figure out how to route them to make it look good is somewhat concerning.

As normal the wheels fell off the bus and I couldn’t leave things alone. I decided to detail the underbody and paint it before I put it in the new drivetrain. I am eliminating Np203 and replacing it with the NP241dhd transfer case. I was not comfortable with using the NP203 with the new Goodwin engine. Surprisingly the under coating chipped off very easily. Fortunately I don’t have to deal with any rust. Not a normal thing for us Wisconsin guys
