Bench top Valve spring tester recommendation needed

Bench top Valve spring tester recommendation needed - 04/25/21 05:59 AM

Hi,
I wrecked my little hydraulic, squeeze it in the vise, valve spring tester today. I think it's time to step up to a nice benchtop unit. Criteria would be: readily available, accurate, reliable, easy to use.
Does anyone have a recommendation, and which ones should I stay away from?
Thanks, Joel

It seems as though I saw an ad where Proform was going to be reproducing the Rimac units.

I’d look into that.

LSM makes a really nice billet one for a fair price. Make sure to get the Dial indicator mount with it...it's worth it.

I have the LSM and like all their stuff it is top notch. However I can only test seat pressure with it. It does not seem to have enough travel to get to open pressure.

I can't remember the brand but W8/W9 Head Guru Brett Miller uses this one and it looks killer.

Wow, that thing looks like the cats! Probably $$$? I need to find out what it is.

I believe that digital one is made by Buxton.

If for some reason I was going to replace my Rimac, that’s what I’d get.

I bought a 0 to 1400 Lb. Intercomp digital when my old Rimacs 1000 lb. tester broke several years ago, I don't like the digital dial calipers on it for measuring travel due to the cheesy mounting of it so I'm going to add a 0 to 1.0 standard dial indicator like the Rimacs have up
I don't remember the price of it or who I bought it from blush

I lucked out and bought an Intercomp model VST20 with a Goodson tag on it many many years ago listed on Moparts. It’s held down by four 3/8 bolts to my workbench and is one of those tools that will never leave my shop. I would post some pictures but like many have issues doing so on this website and only this website.
