Impressive numbers for sure, especially with the crossram. My engine's always seem to be down on torque compared to other builds I read about, and my 493 w Indy-1 and similar compression and roller is down almost 100lb/ft compared to this one! Maybe thats my crappy engine or engine shops dyno.

My 512/400 made 809hp at that compression....with Indy EZ1 heads and a single plane Indy intake. That little beast went 6.0 in my car.

How in the world does that car weigh over 3500 lbs??

Tony, I suspect if the two motors were tested back to back on the same dyno, the tq discrepancy would be less.

The pic of the motor in the article shows it with 1-7/8x3” headers(look like Hooker Competition) which is going to impact both ends of the curve(compared to what most people would use in the race car for a build like that).

The fairly low peak rpm point for HP, along with it making more TQ than HP, indicates it’s running out of “something”.

That amount of tq(738) out of 511”(1.44/ci)would be abnormally good on the dyno here for that type of build.
(The equivalent of 642ft/lbs from a 446)

6.00 at 114.5 mph in a 3000 lb vehicle is somewhere between 685-700 horsepower.
