Source for intake manifold internal water to air intercooler - 12/05/20 10:46 PM

Hi, does anyone know where I can get an intercooler core similar to the one on the picture. It would be fitted inside a custom intake manifold. I fould a bunch on line, but they are cores only, that need to have ends welded on. Hopefully moparts gand can point me to the source. THanks, Joel

I would call Littlefield blower Company at 714-992-9292 and see if they have a recommendation or not scope

Why not get the fittings welded on?

I made this one from a bare core. Recently upped the water flow capacity. This pic has the old 3/4” liquid line. It now has radiator sized hoses.
I think you are much farther ahead buying a core that you can make as you wish, instead of being stuck with a core group hat you need to work around/ compromise what should be

What supercharger? And the intake is a modified version of something available or completely fabricated?

I usually buy cores from Bell and make the end tanks. They can build you one if you give them all of the dimensions.

The blower is a Whipple 3300sc. the intake manifold is for a vintage V8 that no intake is available for, so it will be built from scratch.

You are going to have to make some calls to see if someone wants to take on the 1 off project. There are lots of people building i/c custom.

417 motorsports makes a nice one for the holley high ram. The High Ram might be a good template to use for your custom intake since they offer many tops and styles for it.

Where would you mount the icetank? Have you considered the add'l weight of eveything?

Hemi, in this venue (land speed), weight is irrelevant, and I can find room.

340, thanks for the link, those are pretty.

I found a place that sells the cores. https://www.verociousmotorsports.co...iquid-to-Air-Intercooler-Core-1-25-Thick

it looks like I'd have to make end caps and weld them on. The scary thing is, if it leaked, it could hydro-lock the motor and destroy it.

You can buy the cores directly from Bell as well.

The system isn't operating at a high pressure. Would take a huge leak to be a problem. Easy enough to pressure test before installing.

Take a look at https://shearerfabrications.com/collections/liquid-intercoolers

I've know Ron for years. He does a lot of this type of stuff.

Joel, are you saying your going land speed racing at Wendover, UT?
I use to go watch ( 3 times only) the SCTA racers during the winter at El Mirage dry lake race their top end race cars, man that was journey back in time for me, racing like it use to be up Men and machine being used to go really fast boogie devil
I was thinking about building a car to race at Bonneville, Wendover, and at El Mirage but when I found out that there was absolutely no money paid for setting a record I backed out realcrazy Back then if you had a car that would run faster than 150.+ MPH you needed Land Speed rated tires and no one had any new ones for sale, the used ones where over 12 Yrs old and very pricey whiney Oh Well shruggy

Cab, yup, planning to go to Bonneville and set the land speed world on fire! laugh I bought a '27 T roadster as a roller that has gone 250ish with Chevy power. To start out it will be in a class for blown vintage inlines and flathead v8 or v12 engines. So we are going with a Lincoln 337 flathead V8. Sorry it's not Mopar, an inline won't fit and Chrysler never made a flathead V8. But it might end up with a Hemi in it later if I change classes, we'll see how it goes with the vintage engine.

I talked to Bell intercooler on the phone, and they provide the cores, and they will also provide end tanks and weld them on. They are advising on the design, so I think we have this problem solved. Thanks for the help, Moparts!

I used a 3 gal fuel cell that held 20# of ice and 1/2 gal of water and then the lines and i/c held 1 gal more if this helps at all
