Indy low deck block distributor

Since my 383 msd distributor is 3/4 of an inch too short to engage the oil pump drive I’m assuming
I need a 440 one. Is this correct?

You can call MSD and order a low deck or tall deck center shaft. The distributor body is the same, I have swapped them before.

If I remember I had to drill the shaft for the roll pin as it did not come drilled.

That's some good info. I went and bought a new MSD distributor when I learned that my low deck distributor wouldn't work in Indy's lowdeck

I called msd and they do not offer replacement shafts.

I think I have a shaft let me check my stash. I ordered one from them for this very reason. I will look and report back.

I have a brand new shaft. I can't remember now if I ordered a tall deck or low deck I am second guessing myself it has been a few years. This shaft measures right at 12 inches. If it will work let me know and its yours.
