You coming back to NA10.5????

Re: new bullet - 01/04/20 09:15 PM

Wedge , hemi's just do not go fast. We are targeting DXP 235 and extreme street. It is the same motor we ran in 2016 with a lot more cam 1.086 lift, a better exhaust port, we are using Braswell carbs 2.300 throttle bore, 1.85 and 1.9 rocker ratio's, more duration on the cam.

Indy 600-13 Goodwin heads? lets here the numbers!!
Posted By: hustlin hoosier

Re: new bullet - 01/05/20 08:08 PM

565 inches very similar to our last motor. The heads were machined by Goodwin but it is a long from his head. the head was a team effort among several people. The biggest effort was probably from Russ at Indy cylinder for modifying the core boxes. No casting no heads. Goodwin had no input in the castings, and the start of this project. Chuck, Russ, Todd, and Myself had a lot of input in this project. I believe I have supplied every set of heads that have been machined.

The old engine made 1222 hp, hopefully the new engine will make 1240!

For the shoot out cuda or the original cuda? Should definitely be enough to mix it up in 235!

Re: new bullet - 01/06/20 07:44 AM

Why do you want to run the small tire classes?
I'm assuming your going to use a 235x60x15, yes or no? If not what size tire are you going to race with confused

My guess would be the mustang

Re: new bullet - 01/06/20 02:43 PM

Mustang, Pro bracket drag radial in 235 and 275 pro in extreme street.

Re: new bullet - 01/06/20 03:17 PM

Cab, when you only make 1240 hp or less the only way you can win is to do a better job racing than the competition. almost every car in the class makes more hp than we do. We live on weight breaks and being more efficient than the rest of the field.

The smaller the tire the closer we get.

Re: new bullet - 01/06/20 05:12 PM

Well was kinda hoping to see you come back to NA10.5 but I get it, tough crowd for sure and like every other class just keeps getting faster. Best of luck with the new fresh bullet.

The engine did not “ Blow Up” After warming it up we noticed it was cranking slow. We check the lash and noticed it had increased so we ended the session and pulled it off. We think it may have hurt some cam bearings due to the the big spring pressure, we will know more once we take it apart.

Well that sucks

Re: new bullet - 01/07/20 01:22 PM

Hopefully just a minor set-back - at least it was caught before the crank bounced off the floor

Hopefully just a small hiccup on the way to some good numbers..

Re: new bullet - 02/09/20 05:02 PM

Back together , all is good I think we gained a little. It made 1211 hp @ 8100, 1206 @8500. Peak torque was 827 @ 7300 and falls off nicely. In the past we have always ran the break in on the dyno, this motor is pretty much untuned as it only has 3 pulls on it . The old 565 made 1222 with a good break in and a lot of thrashing. The new engine was pulled with only 12 inches of vac and break in oil still in it. In the past when we went from break in oil to thinner race oil we gained over 15 hp. When we raised the vac from 12 to 17 we have another 12 - 15 hp. We all know there is only 1 dyno that counts and we won't get there for a couple of months.

It is good to see someone else say the same things I think, the dyno is only a tool, the time slip and spark plugs are the final tool to use when trying to go faster up bow grin

Re: new bullet - 02/18/20 08:33 PM

chuck was right , the engine did not blow up . It just needed a type cam bearing. the engine was completely disassembled installed a different style cam bearing. The world is all good. For any of you guys out there looking for a new engine " Best Machine " does a great job and stands behind their work.

Re: new bullet - 03/05/20 08:42 PM

Due to hardship issues at work, this motor is for sale. The price is $35,000 brand new only 3 dyno pulls. comes with several spares and carb. Also I have a Rossler TH210 with a mopar bell, flexplate and adpter to go to mopar it comes with a billet all aluminum Neal Chance converter. The buyer can take which ever converter he wants as I have an 8 inch that goes wrks with the above motor or a 9 inch if you make big Hp. Trans converter package is $6,000. 812 569 0494
