Product to clean aluminum intake and heads

Hi Fellas,

I'm looking for a product to clean aluminum intakes manifolds and cylinders heads grease. Maybe for cleaning carbonizing in heads also. Any tips?

A mild phosphoric acid solution with dawn detergent, add a little MEK if its real grimy...

Most of the really good carbon cleaners have been obsoleted due to environmental concerns. One that does come to mind is GM Top Engine Cleaner, which I think a version still exists.

I think oven cleaner does a good job on intakes. Just be careful using it. Don't let it set too long or it could etch the material. Maybe try on a couple small spots.

Bead blasting works too.

Try the dishwasher when the wife isn’t home.

If there's a truck stop near you, they usually have aluma bright. You can get it on eBay.

Oxalic acid. Gets oxidation out of the aluminum pores and is a standby wheel cleaner and its cheap.

Raw unpolished aluminum I like Castrol Super Clean.

Eagle or Mequiars cast aluminum wheel cleaner works very well on cast aluminum V.C. and intakes

Another vote here for Mag Wheel cleaner.

Let it sit and soak for a little while, DO NOT let it start to dry before rinsing though
Rinse thoroughly
