Back Half, exhaust under the axle - 04/01/19 03:19 AM
I'm considering going Larson Style with exhaust under the axle. Any real world experience appreciated. Option 2 is dump in front of the rear tire, Option 3 under the car in front of the axle.

I did it to my Cuda. I was reluctant to do it but worked out good. The key I think is to be sure the rear end does not drop down that far so the tubes do not need to hang low.

We did that on a number of cars. Especially with big tubes, 4bar suspension, car lowered, fuel system plumbing, brake lines, you get the picture. Works great. As said, have to pay attention to how far the axle can drop. If you’re not running leafs, you can still curl the pipes out and do a dump at the back of the quarter panels.

HEMI Joel has this type of exhaust on his Drag Week Coupe. Made it easy to remove the exhaust, and reinstall it for the drives. I could have it all off in under 10 minutes, and reinstalled in 15.

Sooooo much easier and nicer results. Not banging against the bottom of the car, use big pipes easily. TIG up some mandrel bends and it looks good. Especially in stainless.

I have them on my Cuda, they work fine but as said you need to watch axle tube clearance, on the street mine is fine but on the strip it would hit and unload the tire.
