472 hemi world block over heating problem - 02/19/19 12:34 AM

ok im working on a 472 hemi, im not sure what heads just yet, i have not removed VC yet.it is a world block, and it runs hot 260-280+.
new water pump, new big aluminum rad, 2 elec. fans on full time.
the customer purchased the car sight unseen , and it has ran hot from the beginning, pushed in a corner for 2 years.. and he know nothing about the details of the engine. its got major blow bye now, im assuming rings are shot, i will comp. test and leak down..soon. is there anything to look at as far as the block and head combination?

Some World blocks had a casting failure with no or limited waterflow between pump and cylinders.

I dont have access to a fullscreen computer just now so posting a link gets difficult but if you look for an old post I made July 9 2016 you will see a thread (426 Hemi gasket backwards?) how two other members handled this problem.
The problem exists on some of the the World "street iron block".

I'm having a hard time accepting the car ran @ 260*+ work
If it ran well and the gauge was 260,,,it's defective.Flush the fuel system and see if you can start the car and start the diagnostics up
Oh,check the oil to see that it looks OK and does NOT smell like gas!

My 572 world block had casting flash in the upper holes for the water pump, had to use a hole saw to clean them up...its easy to spot if its bad. Tim

That’s interesting info on those plugged passages in the world blocks........ and that it’s not a “one off” situation.

check the head gaskets - pretty common problem of the water holes to the heads being blocked when using the wrong head gasket

I would check cylinder head temp with an IR gun. We had fill in one block that blocked the rear two cylinders and the passenger head ran significantly hotter than the drivers side.

Run it on alcohol or E85 if the other suggestions don't get you anywhere.
