Trottle Cable Question

Trottle Cable Question - 01/25/19 05:22 AM

I have a 572 hemi that I want to install in an Ebody. Has the stage 5 intake dual carbs. The trottle bracket is near the back of engine and I need to use an original style cable because the bracket on the intake is designed for one. The cable I have now is 21.5 inches long which will not work. The Lokar trottle cable will not work with the stock style bracket. Just wondering what you folks have used that will work. Any pics would be great.

Can an original cable be modified?

Thanks Ken 715-432-5080 Text if you want.

I hear the slant 6 ones are the longest (comes out of the firewall then goes forward & down then up to where it is clamped). EDIT You might be able to get a length of some small dia high strength cable & install the OE "ends" on it then reinstall it all back in the outer sheath to get the length you need.

Is your original throttle cable too short or too long? You can buy different length throttle cables.

With respect to that /6 reply, a 318-2bbl cable fits the /6 2 bbl.

Try ordering a OEM one from your local Dodge dealer scope twocents
The factory six packs and street hemi cables are both real short, I think the hemi are the shortest but I wouldn't swear to that shruggy

My original cable is way to long like about 3"

Start with Mancini Racing and go from there. If Mancini doesn't have the cable length you need then you might have to do some searching. I don't know anyone who makes custom Mopar throttle cables but there might be a source somewhere.

Ken I did away with the factory cable and bracket on my Cuda and used the lokar cable and a mounting bracket on the front carb.

Hi Mike -Thank you awesome pic - Can you send a pic or tell me which cable you chose there are 3 styles - Plus how did you deal with firewall square hole - How did you handle gas pedal hook up? Any detail pictures? Which length cable did you choose?

What size hemi you got? Looks super sweet. Curious where you put your fuel regulator? If you could send put some pics of how you did your routing would be great.

Also did you do fuel pump in tank?

Sorry for all the questions but you seem to have figured out.

I use a Lokar Cable on a small block with a tunnel ram. My setup looks similar to the dual quads on the hemi but I link my throttle arms on the bottom.

Though a wedge similar set up. used a stock 6 cylinder cable. Made a bracket the mounts on the rear bolts of the front carb.

I believe I used cable TC 1000 I used a large washer on each side of firewall over the square hole and used a trick a painter taught me to paint them flat black and you won't notice them. Removed clevis and attached to pedal as factory.
Baby 426 no reg running mechanical carter strip pump.
