another thought do them in Black Wrinkle and set them up in the mill and mill down .050 or so to just clean up the high spots.
like the mopar black valve covers

That's just how I did mine, painted it same blue as the block and then put it on a large belt sander to shine up the high spots.

Bob, you are going to love that split down the center, makes life a lot easier.
