Indy block lifter bore upgrades

Indy block lifter bore upgrades - 01/14/19 02:00 AM

I have an early aluminum solid RB Indy block that is machined for standard diameter lifters without oil. Is there enough room to bore it out and bush it for .937 keyway lifters? I have no idea how much material is on the sleeves or how much aluminum you need around them.

Best bet is to buy one of the sleeves from Jesel so you can measure it. Then you'll know for sure.

That would tell you how much is left but really wouldn't tell you if that is enough. I would call somebody that works on those blocks a lot and ask them if they have done it and if it holds up.

The Jesel bushing for .937 keyway lifter has a OD of 1.062 I would think a solid block would have more meat in the area but the machine shop would know for sure. Proper placement of the bore hole is the most important thing.
