A very special person in my life

Guys...I know that some of you have met my wife at the track. She was a very important part of my drag racing hobby and helped with log books tires bringing food and making sure that the bills got paid while we were hitting the track hard. That is why I am posting this announcement in the race forum. A few of you know that she lost a brother at age 53 in July this year. A month later,she lost her mother. The day before her mother passed,she was told she had stage four kidney failure. In November it has advanced to Stage five. A kidney transplant is imminent. My youngest daughter is undergoing more testing today as she has volunteered to be a doner to my wife. I think that is a very brave thing to do. I hope someday we can get back to the track with my car but right now it isn't looking good. Please keep my family in your thoughts. Ted

Man Ted you have sure had a rough go of it the last seven years or so. I think about you often and your family will be in my thoughts and Prayers. Praying that it all turns around for you in 2019.

sorry to hear about your troubles. keep your head up. remember there is a master plan even though it may not be apparent at this time. prayers and good luck to you and your family. your daughter is very brave, you should be proud.

I have three good friends , all brothers , who have had transplants...some kind of hereditary condition.
And they have all gone on to enjoy full and productive years afterward.
Hopefully there is a match soon.........the rest is the easy part.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes! It means a lot to me and my wife. We did have enough cash saved up to start building the basement for a small two bedroom home in the country where we could live out our lives in peace and quiet. We will wait for now and see how this all plays out. We have been told that the medication that she will be on for the rest of her life is quite expensive. My daughters have set up a benefit in a small town here in Iowa. Three of my old band mates have volunteered to play for the event and asked me to de-rust and dust off my old Fender bass to do a few tunes. That remains to be seen! Since I don't do Facebook I will ask Tom if I can put a link up to one of the kids Facebook pages. These last five years have really sucked as far as life goes but I am here to tell ya it sure beats the alternative! Ted

Mike...That's good to hear! What about the medication they have to take? We have been told it is very costly. And how did your wife come out?

He had to take anti-rejection drugs for years.. he was
under my dads insurance.. my dad had to fight with the
insurance company in the beginning but ended up getting
it

would donate a kidney.. they told me that I
should keep mine being that I was a dozer
operator in the service and that tends to tear
up the kidneys plus he was closer in age so he
gave up one of his

Sorry till year about your wife, hopefully she gets taken care of. My dad had kidney failure, dialisys was working for him so they told us don't even consider donating. They said a donor would come up. they were unable to do transplant on him so he was on dialisys for 10 years or so. His friend had a transplant, but he didn't always take the meds for whatever reason. My did would always be giving him a hard time, telling him how lucky he was, don't mess it up. My friends wife was type 1 diabetic from a little girl, she had k+p transplant like 20 years ago and I think she's just starting to have some issues. They told me if you truly can't afford the meds, you can get help, that those transplant programs don't want failures, they want as many successful patients as possible on the record to keep the program going.

Dang Ted we'll be praying for your wife and your family. You sure haven't had it easy.

Thanks everyone! We should know after the first of the year if my daughter will be a match for my wife. I have said this before..No matter how bad you have it,there is always somebody who has it a bit rougher.
