Better options out there.

I look at it from this angle........

-what’s the budget?
-how much power are you trying to make?

I have both sets of heads already. I want a full race motor looking for the max HP I guess 950 to 1000 HP.

If you have flow sheets for that bore size on both sets use the best flowing pair for your build up
1000 HP shouldn't be hard to make with that size C.I.(1.65 HP per C.I.) and a good set of heads, intake, carbs and cam to match your goals up work
Give us more details on the specs on your build shruggy
I'm going to be starting a 555 C.I. drag race motor next year for myself that is a Koleno high nickel block with a 4.500 bore and a 4.375 stroker old top fuel crankshaft with full counter balances on all throws, set of B1-MC heads with all new titanium valves and a paired shaft rocker arm system with a sheet metal tunnel ram with two 1050 CFM Dominator carbs on race gas, maybe have them converted to E85 later work
I'm shooting for 1.75+ HP per C.I. on this build luck
I built a B1 bracket motor for a customer several years ago that was 4.495 bore with a 4.25 stroke with a cast single carb intake manifold, it was not a all out effort and it made 920 HP at 2800 Ft with a not so good carb. shruggy
On your deal with good parts a 1000 HP should not be a real challenge twocents

Properly ported(400+ cfm), either set will get you there.

The B1’s have more potential, the 572’s are “easier” to build with(no drain back lines, etc).

If they’re both used sets of heads, it might come down to which set is already set up closer to what you need.

Or which ones he had pistons for. The one set of 572 pistons I have are flycut for both B1 heads and 440-1’s.

Both are good heads, but for a max potential, I think the B1's will come out on top. 572's have superior low to mid lift potential, but start to lose ground at high lifts relative to the B1's.

Either one is capable of making that much power. Do you already have the valve train parts for both or do you need to buy those items. What about pistons and intake manifold?

Typically guys pick a head and then stick with it since changing all of the other parts gets expensive. The B1 head is a great design but it has a lot of unique mating parts so you end up with a fairly big investment in terms of intake, valve train, headers, etc.

Sasquatch has some extensive knowledge of the 572-13 heads and has found some pretty impressive power with them. The B1's as said will flow around 400 CFM with a good port job. Al Alguire has a nice set he might let go.....

No mention of Quality...B1's are far superior castings, have most potential...
