from dragracing on line
NHRA has evidently decided to NOT allow Mountain Motor Pro Stock cars to run with the 500 inch-powered cars in 2019 as was previously reported.

In light of the fact that the soon to be NHRA Pro Stock World Champion Tanner Gray has made it known he is leaving NHRA motorsports for a NASCAR truck team and defending 2017 NHRA Pro Stock World Champ Bo Butner has announced his retirement (as have several other current 500inch Pro Stock racers) the only conclusion the Agent can reach is that NHRA really wants the class to go AWAY! Thankfully, nothing official about this issue has been released by the National Hot Rod Association. (Just a reminder that there were only 14 Pro Stock entrants at Charlotte 2.

Pro mod guys would never want to run as many race as NHRA pro Stock has on the schedule so that would have to go. Same wth the factory stock class that guys are hoping for.

3 teams pretty much control the whole thing, have all the talented people and the technology tied up, and have the money to do it, along with some rich kids who can pay to come along for the ride. I don't know the solution. Maybe let carbs and scoops back in. Maybe throw the Dodges and Fords some bones; RPM, weight, cubes. Hate to see it go away. Especially hate to see the the premier NA class replaced by a bunch of boosted/N2O crap.

I do not know what the fix is, but the NHRA has been less than hospitable too them in my eyes...This was always one of my favorite classes. It is one of the reasons I got into racing. I used to love watching the Dodges, Fords, & Chevy's duke it out....Now I am dating myself with that one, but we are all racers for one reason or another.

To think that NHRA is going to fix it when they don't understand why attendance is down in the first place means they need a house cleaning because they don't get todays racing.

Lets put this a different way, how are the Street Outlaws doing? Seems like they are able to draw big crowds...If NHRA can't figure out why they are as big as they are, there is no hope...

I like pro mod better as no two cars are the same.

Neil: YES

"Pro Stock"? That's where "these cars are just like the one you can buy"? Not interested.

Probably but that decision hasn't been made yet per my insiders.
