LA heads on a magnum block? - 09/07/18 03:54 AM
I am beginning to gather parts for a mild 360 build for my 85 D150. It will be based off of a stock 360 magnum short block. I am thinking about running an aftermarket la head if possible and was wondering if the hole circled in the photo below is the oil feed hole for the rockers on la style heads? The block I am using is a 94, if that matters.

Lucky for you you have an early mag block with LA oiling.

blow air thru the hole on block deck to ensure it is fully drilled to cam bearing...

Don't forget when calculating cr, the deck height is 9.585 compared to 9.599 on a LA block...it changes pushrods lenght too

Published spec for late model LAs is 9.577 - 9.578. Did they change it going to the Mag engine?

To my knowledge, all LA were 9.599 tall....for sure 94-95 mags were 9.585...
Went trough a couple of blocks to confirm, may be DusterDave could confirm too
