Yes, he is. I bought several parts for 3 motors over the years from him. Herb was ALWAYS helpful. (And candid!)

I talked with him for awhile at Carlisle this year. Great guy, he lives for this sport. Always willing to share his knowledge with everyone.

Been friends with Brian Lohnes for years. His highlight of the US Nats is having Herb in the booth.

PM me your address and I'll send you 100 bucks.

Dad retired and shut his business down in 97.

$50 shipping at 5% annual interest for 20 years (actually longer since I must have bought them in '96 or '97)... yep, $100.

PM sent. Thanks - Brad

Listening to McCandless each year is a pleasure. The 32x14 story, the carb story and so many others.

Brian Lohnes though has to be the best voice in any form of racing. Listening to him for stock and super stock is awesome. I can barely remember much of Bob Frey, but hopefully Lohnes has that type of longevity as it’d be awesome to come to Indy each year with him on the mic. He’s great.

Things changed a bit in 71, going forward. Dad did win Indy in 70 with a true pro stock car. I believe his 70 SM car started at a /6 car. Was still on stock suspension. Had a bolt in lakewood roll bar and that was it.
