Monster Musclecar Weekend at Gateway, Sept 14/15th - 08/24/18 08:26 AM

I posted this in the General section but I know that some don't ever look there.

Mopar people that want an event of this type (Racing, Car Show, Swap Meet) in the St.Louis area.
This is as close as you're going to get in these modern times of long running events going away.

If you don't support it, it will probably be the last event of this type that's mainly aimed at the Mopar crowd in this part of the Midwest.

Preregistering will save you a few bucks and lets them know that people are actually going to show up.

The registration prices are exactly the same as the the last Monster Mopar that Scott Sieveking had at Gateway (so no one should be complaining about the entry cost).

Phill Phil Painter is in town (STL area) right now and is meeting with assorted Mopar groups to talk to everyone to say that support of the event is needed if there will ever be another one.

They're supposed to update the mmwstl.com website to show that the racing classes will have a progressive payout, meaning that if more cars show up for a class the payouts will be higher. It's currently based on a minimum of 16 cars in each class.
The Pro Class was traditionally the largest car count race class.
If there are 80 cars entered in the Pro Class the payout will reflect that car count.

The event will need public support if people want an event like this in the Midwest.

I know that some will complain that it's not a Mopar Only Event.
As far as racers, do you only race Mopars at the dragstrips you go to most of the time?
As far as Car Show guys, is it that hard to walk on past the other makes.

The reality is that it will be mostly Mopars anyway.

Phil Painter lists his phone numbers on the event flyer and keeps saying if you have question about the event, call him to get them answered. Those are his numbers, he will answer his phone to answer your questions.

100.00 a day to win 750.00 in Pro class? Should be half of that...Pretty steep entry fees as compared to the payouts...Jmo.

That was discussed Wednesday evening, He said it was $750 a day payout if I understood him correctly.

He also said that the payout was progressive, the more cars in the class the higher the payout.
They were supposed to put that on the website to show that (since it was a complaint that was brought up).
He was told that people want to see it in writing, not just hear verbally about it.

If anyone has questions, call him, his numbers are on the flyers.

If he doesn't answer, leave a message and he will call you back.
He's at the Indy Race (IRL) at Gateway this weekend and with the noise he may not hear his phone always.

He called back a guy in the general section who called him about when he could get in on Thursday to set up a swap space.

Re: Monster Musclecar Weekend at Gateway, Sept 14/15th - 09/13/18 06:05 PM

I have run bonne terre a couple times, good hooking track, but they need to extend the shutdown its too short, I run low 6's about 110mph and I get stopped but a couple times I really had to put the binders on hard. Last time it had been raining that week and water was running across the end of the shutdown. Good people who run it and I had fun, but I have never wrecked a race car, and don't want to start this late in my life, 62 year olds might not heal quick.

Would everyone prefer it to be all Mopars?
Yes, obviously they would.

Most of the cars there will be Mopars, the event is mainly promoted at the Mopar Crowd.

The days of single brand events are ending, people just aren't attending them anymore.

Every year the Mopar Nationals is smaller.

Scott Sieveking the guy that used to put on Monster Mopar said he's never going to do another event.

As I already said, Mopar people that want an event of this type (Racing, Car Show, Swap Meet) in the St.Louis area.

that was probably my mistake for not trying to get in touch with the right person, he could have passed the questions on tho,
to late to worry about it now, hope it turns out good
