Thumper, You The Man!

Thumper, You The Man! - 08/21/18 02:30 AM

From my other thread on the 605 Hemi:

The latest changes on the 1250 Dominator worked well!

We have been just driving the car to run some fuel threw it, and log some time on the carb....And man, I got to give Thumper a shout out, I think we got this thing dialing in now...We have been back and forth probably 1/wk all summer as I try different things, and went to cruise night tonight with all the latest changes, and man, its track ready and pretty close now. I am fussy, and when I am happy with a carb, its pretty damn good...AFR is reading awesome at almost all positions now.

The big Hemi likes fuel!

This one took a while. It was a 3-circuit and he converted it to a 2-circuit, and then I had an engine let go shortly after getting it running. The new engine seems to like a lot more fuel due to the better cylinder sealing. We also have a weird cam that was originally for efi, so tuning this has been a challenge. Its big, its got way bigger chambers than a wedge, and a cam I would not normally even consider running....And man does it run.

Man, at one point I was pulling on leftover hairs trying to figure your carb out knowing the changes we made SHOULD of done this but did THAT..........If most people would give me a shot on a street Dommy, they would forget about EFI and save LOTS of $$$$$$$$$$ guaranteed............ beer thumbs Let's see them new best et's now...........

Well its working really well now, and cruise AFR came down and stayed down. She has no hesitations and is just comfortable to drive at any rpm now. Fires right up and settles in on idle right away and pulls hard. I have not made any passes to see where WOT is at, but the leanest it goes now any wheres is 13.8....idles around 13.0...WOT is either low 13's or in the 12's...Tough to tell because its over 100 so quick you have to keep an eye on the road.

You and I spent some time on the phone, and its paying off. Hope you took notes...

Again, these #'s are just to see/hear where it's happiest at but by no means the "end all" and my plug readings are still important of course along with the time slip if you are racing.........Lot's of notes and the way I approach this is that you guys are MY data and WE learn together as there are lots of different combos with many different needs........... beer Glad you're happy now lets see some numbers......... drive

A little more "street" testing on the way to cruise night tonight and nearly WOT is only around 12.8-12.9...Gonna need more jet I think. Car drivers really well...All AFR's were right where they were on last outing and it seems very comfortable to drive.

Maybe we will do some actual track testing next year.

Take it to the track, preferably a 1/4 mile, and jet it for the best MPH, and then look a the AFR readings at the finish line to see what the best AFR reading are for your car work scope
