Pushrod Length Checking - 03/08/09 08:03 PM

I am ordering my new pushrods monday and I have always put the #1 piston at TDC and used a adj pushrod checker and torqued shafts/rockers down to 25lbs and also set cam lash to get actual pushrod length needed...... is this the preferred method.. thx

solid roller setup

Not for me. Check the intake when ex is just starting to open, and the exhaust when the intake is just passed fully open. But some rollers are a bit different

I would check it when the #1 exhaust starts to open. That way you know everything is at close on the Int side

why is that? when you set valve lash 90*'s at a time starting at TDC ???

Thats book learnin... If the you check the intake just as the exhaust starts to open & check the exhaust as the the intake is almost closed you are 100% assured the lifter your checking is on the base circle....

Grab a camshaft & look it over you'll see why this method is more accurate than the book method..
