Stock springs, added main leaf from a Toyota Truck, home made Caltrac bars, and Viking double adjustable shocks. Nothing crazy

Not that bad honestly. People have been mid 170s there in cars like mine and stop fine. Parachute helps a ton.

Hey that's awesome...Questions??? hmm..sure, got a pile of them...pretty much all F/M/J-body specific stuff though.
Alright, here is the 1st one: what did you do (if anything) to stiffen up the chassis? I'm thinking frame ties, rollcage I suppose...can you show pics of the body specific fabrication required?
The goal for my '81 coupe is to be a pretty serious car, it will require that level of support, so anything I can look at today that will make this task easier is very welcome!

Re: Streetcar stuff - 07/11/18 10:00 PM
I'm liking this car more and more and I've never been a turbo fan at all, lol. It cools good like that? Then again, I imagine it doesn't make a lot of heat just normal driving. I bet my car would run hot real quick w/ a setup like that. Another advantage to the newer stuff.

Yes it’s great. Same rad I had in the front with the small block. It runs 180 down the highway and actually runs cooler when you stop. At stop lights with the fam on it will drop to 150-160

I'm lucky in my part of the world a 10 second street car is still fast.

Re: Streetcar stuff - 07/11/18 10:58 PM
Yeah the rear radiator always seems sketchy to me but it seems to work. There is lots of drag week guys that do that. There is a guy in particular that daily drives his 7 second mustang in Dallas traffic, he just recently added AC and put the condenser stacked with the radiator under the trunk.

As long as you have a mild engine that doesn't make any heat under normal driving conditions it seems to work. Like I said though, on MY car, I bet it'd run hot real quick. My old school stuff isn't quite as efficient as the new gizmos, lol.
Newer design mild engine w/ a big power adder is def. the way to go for a street driven car that's gonna see a lot of miles. I like doing things the hard way I guess, w/ old school stuff in a heavy sled...but it's what I like.

Re: Streetcar stuff - 07/15/18 06:03 AM
what size hoses do you use up and back, and how do you fill the radiator, and do only use a stock water pump to move the water?
