Re: Beyond Spintron - 06/15/18 01:39 AM

I am constantly putting together unknown combinations. I think a fair charge would be acceptable to determine if I have a strong valvetrain that will live under my conditions, or hopefully tell me if I missed something before I fire it up. Would this be like a computer program that would determine fail points with known components?

Certainly sounds intriguing. So this is not merely a math-based predictor ?
A non-destructive test procedure ?

OK,.. I'm game, let's play engineer :-) But 1st off You seem to take pains to obfuscate Your comments in regards to this topic? Why??, there are plenty of people here who can understand techno-speak. Also per technical protocol if You use acronyms (RTR,... run-to-run, rule-the road, reformed-theological-review??) you write text and include acronym in brackets to insure clarity of term. Now,.. if You are interested in the condition of pushrod/rocker arm degradation to the point of failure without touching, the only option I see is to have a very fast optical data recorder that could see/record the condition in perhaps visible and infrared wavelengths. This in concept would allow to see the before and after conditions of interest. That's money for the speed and configuration of the optics and a good mechanical set-up. Isn't this what Spintron does already or is Spintron limited to visible wavelengths only? I probably 'fell off the boat' as to My interpretation to Your questions but You'll let Me know ... right?

Let me translate your remark: you don't like me. Or are you just very rude?
Have a nice day.

My remarks have nothing to do with liking or disliking You. You look to pose Your technical questions as a puzzle which introduces ambiguity to interpretation. Engineers as a rule do not like to play 'what am I saying?' games which appear as thinly veiled arrogance. You'd get that slapped out of You pretty quick here in silicon valley. OK,.. infrared/visible strobed data collection will probably work for watching pushrod tips disintegrate versus rpm. Get out Your checkbook.

Yea, what he said...ha ha.

Violence(slapped) out of silicon valley, I dont see the slapping emoji present smile

You going back to the moon or something?
Current top level shops like Buck racing engines, Scott Shaffirof, Rher Morrison in Texas etc ( or pick your guru insert here) can tell you pretty darn quick if what you are planning will do the work

Guessing you are running a Mopar of some kind so the rocker arm folks like Jesel and T&D pretty much know what will work and live

Drag engines love lots of spring to make up for all the other BS going on Belt drives on the timing end do WONDERS for valve trains in general and are the best $$ spent for killer set ups watch a Spintron with chain then swap to belt drive it can be stunning what all changes

Smoky Yunnick said it best
"The price of progress is trouble" so if you want to do something new and untried you have to be the guinea pig and build , race, and observe in the real world at the track to determine if it is all up to the job

That is probably about the same cost in time , effort and parts as spending the loot on the lab--

or...just get twin turbos

all in fun here ya'll take it easy on one another LOL

Curios about gear drives as I just got a Milidon like I used to run and was a partial payment on twin Dommy's for a customer......... thumbs

Re: Beyond Spintron - 06/18/18 04:20 PM

Folks run gear drives
Do they go faster? I doubt it--do they have less harmonics transmitted to valve train?--I doubt it---are they better than a chain? In what way that really really matters-- Better with a blower? I think so ---- as good as a belt drive? No way IMO
Help timing stability?? Not anything like a crank trigger!!!
BTW if you are bracket racing and want to run the number better then get a crank trigger--you will be amazed!! Stunned at how much better it is

If I had a Milodon gear drive laying around and a race engine to build would I use it ??? Heck yea!
