i have personally had cheapy filters collapse internally, causing low flow and pressure issues. luckily, no permanent damage, but cheap is CHEAP ! wix, or napa gold [wix] for me, but there are other quality filters out there such as baldwin. absolutely NO FRAM !

filter1.com and use discount code MOPARTS. They sell WIX free shipping over $50.

An oil pump is a positive displacement pump. That means it pumps a certain volume per revolution. The pressure it develops is due to the restriction in the flow out of the pump.

IF the filter were to block or impede flow, the pressure that the pump sees would increase. Whether your oil pressure gauge registers high or low depends on where in the oil system the gauge is mounted.

On a street car, Wix/NAPA Gold, Mobil 1 on occasion, K&Ns are OK too I think. On a race motor, I look at the micron rating to see how restrictive it is. I don't use daily driver filters on race engines. Used System 1 on my stuff for years. Love them.

I would recommend a system one oil filter. Billet housing so it will not burst, filter element is cleanable, and it makes it easy to check on bearing material when you change your oil, plus you will never buy another oil filter.

All of the system one housing I've seen, including the one in your picture, have cast housings, not billet tsk
I'm not sure that makes any difference when it comes to burst strengths of either type material though work shruggy

We had the short System One on a 90* adapter, tucked up beside the engine on my small blocks, no extra plumbing. Tube chassis deal. My next oil filter will be the Clear View Filtration unit. Check it without being taken apart.

I have been wanting to use a remote mount filter and the clearview has crossed my mind. It would be nicer to see it in the window on a casual glance rather than waiting on it to show up on your drain plug. It is a little on the pricey side though or I would already have it.

Clear view makes both cast and billet.

EDIT: meant to say System makes them. Sorry.

I never had that issue with a Wix or Napa Gold so I guess I'm ahead of the game.

I didn’t mean it filters any better. I meant, if you have some metal in the oil, you can see it between rounds, or wh3never you look at the filter, without any work. Don’t have to drain the oil, or cut a filter open, to catch a problem.
