Indy "-4" heads; what are they? - 06/04/18 02:16 AM

Hello,

A friend of mine told me he is running the "old Indy -4" heads on his 500+ race big block. I have searched the internet and haven't found any info on these heads.

Just curious what they are and what they might compare to in today's Indy lineup.

Thank you in advance up

There is probably a 3 digit number that precedes the -4. You need that number too.

Maybe Stage 4 heads that were prepared by Indy?

You will probably get more info if you post this in the 'Race' section.

Never heard of a -4 Indy head. There is an Indy 426-4 intake manifold for a hemi.

I think he may be seeing something that isn't there or is inaccurate. My heads were stamped 345 CC and they were -1's. On a wedge motor, there wasn't anything like that, that I know of.

When I first got mine in 2000ish they were refer'd to as 440-1 heads. Later everyone just seemed to call them -1's.
