73 Cuda inexpensive headers - 05/09/18 12:49 PM

Who sells decent headers for a 73 cuda with a 440 4-speed and power steering I bought a set from jegs that hit the steering box and will not allow the motor to set on the mounts thanks for any help Matt.

I've never had issues using Hooker Headers with my big blocks. But I never had power steering in my cars, either. The only time I had issues was using a Lakewood shield. The crown points on the housing seem to get in the way. Minor trimming fixes that. Clutch replacement with headers becomes a major feat.

My suggestion is to check for fitment instructions / restrictions for Hooker 5903 "Comp" series headers. They're not perfect, but I did run them w/ power steering and an auto w/o steering component clearance issues. The driver's side collector was really close to the torsion bar, though. They're about $300 for the uncoated version, and if you ordered a set thru Jeg's w/ their current promo code, they'd be about $270 w/ free shipping.

If you choose to go w/ Hookers, do NOT buy the ones with their cheap-a$$ ceramic coating. My experience w/ their in-house coating option was very disappointing...
