572 pump gas hemi dyno test results - 05/07/18 07:00 PM

I built and dyno tested a pump gas 572C.I. EFI Hemi motor for a local car show guy, he didn't want a all out high performance street and strip motor whiney
It is going into a 1970 Challenger with power steering, air conditioning, 18 or 20 inch wheels with a low ride height for driving to the local car shows and a car his wife can drive also shruggy
I started with a new World 4.500 bore cast grey iron block, new Scat 4.500 stroke Hemi crank, Manley SS Hemi I beam rods, Diamond pistons that ended up having 11.01 to 1 compression ratio, CNC ported Stage V street heads with all the Stage V rocker gear, EFI camshaft for power brakes, dual 4150 EFI throttle body single plane intake from Tim at FHO up
Holley Dominator EFI tuned by Rich at Fastman EFI up bow on a DTS engine dyno in Chico, CA last month.
It made 799 HP at 6500 RPM in a open loop with 730 Ft. Lbs. torque at 4900 RPM, I was hoping for more HP and torque but the customer is happy boogie
We tested it from 3500 RPM to 6500 RPM, it made 469 HP at 3500 with 704 Ft lbs. and it made 799 HP at 6500 RPM with 645 Ft. Lbs. shruggy Hopefully this will set the customer WAY back in his seat at WOT under any conditions devil whistling
That is if he doesn't loose control of it first luck

Sounds like a very stout engine. What did you think of the dyno down in Chico? That is John Beck's place correct? I've been thinking of taking an engine down there just for fun. Figured I might learn something by working with a guy like that.

Sounds like a nice piece. As long as the customer is happy, that is all that matters.

What are the cam spec's, solid or roller?

Power brakes,so what was the Vacuum reading ?

That is a very nice piece Cab, congrats. When you say hemi crank you mean 8 bolt, right? What size header and ex pipes are needed for that motor?

I just happen to have a good mega 4.5" block...

No idea, the dyno operator didn't hook it up to record that and I din't bring a hand held vacuum gauge to check it blush realcrazy
I'm going to take a SWAG and say above 10.00 inches at or above 1000 RPM luck
This cam was ground on a 112 LSA and installed at 112.5 ICL, I check both lobes and the intake varied from 112.5 to 113.0 on the intake lobe and the exhaust degreed in at 110 at all three points, .200,.100 and .050 before max lift confused work

It is one of Tim custom ground EFI solid rollers with 254 degrees at .050 on the intake lobes(.388 lobe lift) with 262 degrees @ on the exhaust lobes with .383 lobe lift.
It has Stage V rocker arms also, not sure of the ratio though shruggy

Re: 572 pump gas hemi dyno test results - 05/08/18 01:06 AM

It does have a Scat 8 bolt hemi crank in it up
It has a set of TTI early, pre 1965, B body 2.0x2 1/8 with 4.0 inch collectors per the instructions from Reilly motorsports on their tubular K member.
We used a set of three inch pipes 42 inches long and a set of 3.0x14 inch Ultra Flow straight through muffs to prevent back flow for the O2 sensor on the EFI.

I think I just built the same engine with parts from Tim with the same cam. Are the valve springs beehive springs? What size injectors did you achieve those #'s with?

WoW very nice Cab ! Are you able to share the cam specs, I'm real curious wink

I did use the beehive springs Tim provided, I was hesitant to use them with only 430 lbs opened pressure though shruggy it would be interesting to add around 75 lbs. more seat pressure and 150 Lbs on the open side to see if the motor would have pulled up higher on the peak RPM work
The injectors are 65 lbs. per hour, I think. Rich provided them with the Holley Dominator EFI system up
I used a Aeromotive 1000 electric fuel pump for the dyno testing with #10 AN Teflon feed line and #8 AN Teflon to the injector fuel rails and return line to the tank up Rich set the fuel regulator bypass pressure at 43 Lbs. I think grin

The cam specs. are on two different posts above this scope

That's a nice motor and all that torque will probably break other things in the drivetrain (unless the owner has little tires). And if RichN tuned it, I'm sure it will purr like a kitten and then roar like a lion as you mash the loud pedal. I see that TTI recommends http://www.ttiexhaust.com/MoparClassics-Headers/Hemi6265/TTiHEMI625-218214.cos.htm for E-Body with coil overs. Do the headers in the dyno run video belong to the dyno shop? I ask because I see the exhaust temp bungs welded in and I wonder if they will hit the inner fenderwell shock tower area on passenger side once that bad boy is in the car.

I just ordered a custom set of TTI 2-1/4" primary tube with 4" collector with O2 sensor bungs and a V-Band flange instead of the 3-bolt collector flange. I was going to wait until after installing a Gerst K-Frame so I would only have to order those expensive TTI Headers once but decided to just go with my stock k-member for now so I can get my Hemi (https://youtu.be/95gZTspdzsg) installed and get on the street/strip this year. My current exhaust system uses 3" UltraFlows but as my hearing gets worse, I think I'll switch back to the FlowMasters.

OK - Here are some answers, except for Dave Hall who called me an old nerd.

Idle vacuum at 1000 RPM with 18 degrees of timing was 14.5" HG
Total timing was 34 degrees
Injectors were 66 lb/hr
Holley HP EFI running the Holley dual-sync dizzy
Sequential injection
Dual 4150 Accufab throttle bodies
Injector max duty cycle was 73% at 386 lb/hr total flow
Pump gas

Here's a pic from an early pull before final tuning.

Very nice! Surprised it made that kind of power w/ that little cam.
