572 B1 headed NGK sparkplug number question - 04/13/18 01:56 AM

This is my first B1 headed combo and very first nitrous application. I have used Autolite plugs in all my builds for the past 44 years but NGK seems to be the go to plug with nitrous. Brad Watt was gracious enough to get me pointed in the right direction but before I order several boxes I would like to pick other B1 guys brain. I want to start out NA and then slowly apply the juice after a week or two so I need a NA and nitrous NGK plug number. Thanks guys. Its a 200-650 plate system

That's a bit cold for that compression imo and I run 8's at 12.1.1..I agree on 9's for Pittsburghracer though...........

I agree with this, I also ran -8 plugs at 15:1 and would have went to a -9 for a small shot of spray.

The 5671A is the number for non-projected tip.
The 5672A is the number for projected tip.

The heat ranges run from 5 to 11, hot to cold, and are closer together than most of the other plugs.

I've found with my 11 to 1 small block, I can get away with 8s on Drag Week, driving on pump gas, and then spraying at the track with 114 in the tank.

My brothers like to switch to a colder 9 or 10 when spraying their big blocks.

Plug Number/Part number
Projected tip
BCP6ES/4930
BCP7ES/5030
R5672A-8/7173
R5672A-9/7405
R5672A-10/7942

Non-projected tip
R5671A-7/4091
R5672A-8/4554
R5671A-9/5238
R5671A-10/5820
R5671A-11/6596

Thanks guys. It sounds like Brad (a493demon) was on point recommending R5671A-9 (5238) NA and R5671A-10 (5820) Nitrous. Hope o place the order today and make some noise with this thing soon.

Just bring the Absolute Vodka Brad. I will bring my Diet Dew mixer. I ordered 10 sets of plugs today so that will get me started. Thanks for the plug numbers.

Not being an expert, but with boost, or nitrous I run the coldest plug i know of. The coldest one I know of, and least likely to cause detonation is an NGK 5962 R6061-10. 13/16 hex, so it's tough on wedges if you don't have much room.

No way possible to use a 13/16 plug on my combo. I’m making special tools for 5/8 plugs.
