Thanks

Pretty vague question. How much power, how much stroke?

Good tune up...yes.
Bad tune up...you can't buy parts good enough.

Tom will honestly answer your questions. Give him a call. I just bought a 4.500/2.200 crank from them. Much nicer piece than what I had used previously.

I agree, I would value his opinion over anyone else's.

So, Molnar does not have the crank I want and won't make it. Oh well.

Molded Billet

Re: Molnar crank / blower application ?? - 04/05/18 10:06 PM

Moldex billet, Crower, Callies, Mittler Brothers, Winberg, Sonny Bryant, Alan Johnson are who I'd call.
You've about doubled or tripled the price of a Molnar-machined Chinese forging. But when you start talking four figure hp numbers that's where you end up.
Out of that group I'd pick Winberg but it may be difficult to get into line at his shop, they sometimes have quite a waiting list. Realistically, I'd pick Crower for no good reason only that they have been around a long time and their billet stuff is hell for stout.

Is this thing going to be a 100 run a year racecar or something driven to car shows? Plenty of over achievers with sub-par parts. Plenty of engines that were way more expensive than necessary that don't get beat on.

Street strip car and I would prefer to build it once and then just worry about maintenance. Waiting to here back from Crower on pricing. Best price so far was from Bryant at $3024 for a billet with centre counterweights. This is the one I will go with unless I can find one comparable that would do the job and maybe save $500 or so. I know, I know, power isn't cheap but I can't be senseless about the build either. Thanks for the input.

Have you checked Ohio crank? They make billet cranks with CCW for a decent price.

iagree scope
I called them recently to see if they would make me a billet 4.375 stroke hemi crank with full counterweights and BB Chevy rod journal size, the 1-800 phone guy said no, not in that stroke shruggy
I'll call back later and talk to one of the owners or senior sales guys to get what I need up

World iron block, I bought new from Dave Dudeck and all machine work done by FHO, GRP 7.115 aluminum rods, custom cut CP pistons, Stage V- FHO custom heads, 2x 1050 Quickfuel dominators Unfortunately with the Canadian Peso, everything we buy from the States is plus 30% with the exchange. That Bryant crank will cost me $3800+ and possible duties and shipping so there is an easy $4500. I had a set of Stage V big valve heads from FHO and the Ray Barton T&D rockers assembly but I sold the heads, the rockers and my Littlefield blower because I got talked into going with an aluminum KB block and so I sold my new Mega block to FHO and poof! no blocks. Did not want an Indy block so after 2 years I had sold that stuff.

Yes I run a 440source 4.5 crank with a 2.2 pin. Been turning it 7600 this year. 4.80's at 151 MPH in the 1/8. I will not take it apart this winter.

I hope 440 source has a few pics of your ride on their site. That's the best advertising they could have. Can't argue with results.

How long has it been together and what cu"in"?

Re: Molnar crank / blower application ?? - 12/01/18 01:49 AM

It's been together 3 seasons.

Only got out 10 times this year. Ran new best 60' and MPH and tied the cars best but can't seem to get my 330 foot number to move. If it comes around I have a .60something in it.
I'm at 20 psi on gas
