I use the one from Mancini on all of my builds. Haven't had an issue with any of them.

I have used stock ones in stock blocks forever with no problems, do you have a stock retainer to mock it up with?
If so try looking at it to see if it will work or not twocents

No, the KB block has it all made in one piece as the rear main cap.
The World blocks come w/ a new retainer.
All my stock block builds I use stock retainers. Don't see any need for a new one.

From my experience, used factory retainers sometimes get distorted from having the rope seal pounded into them and don't work well with the neoprene seal. Get a new one.

I never had any issues with just using a stock real main seal retainer either. I do currently have a billet retainer in my Hemi though. No issues so far with this one either.

The mancini one fixed a very pesky rear main seal leak for me & others have that exact same style. I'm not sure why it worked, but I'm sticking with it. I also used the silicone 2-piece seals, the good side seals, assembly lube, VERY thin smear of RTV on the mating surfaces & offset the seals. Check Hughes Engines, I believe they carry the same rear seal retainer. I used their directions for installation.

My Mega block uses a stock part. No side seals, just RTV. They can push the retainer off to one side causing a leak. Make sure the bolt holes don't bind holding the retainer to one side. If they do open the holes up one drill size and recheck. Best to bolt down the retainer with no crank during the build to see exactly how it lines up. Make sure the bolt bosses aren't cracked from using a bolt that was too long. Also fill the retainer bolt heads with RTV. Not all pans completely cover the seal retainer bolt recess.

I have never had an issue with a stock piece, even in aftermarket blocks. My Predator has a stock retainer in it. I don't use side seals either just silicone. As pointed out pre checking them before the seal is installed will usually identify any potential issues.
