360/408 magnum edelbrock heads, what head gaskets? - 03/04/09 11:21 PM
Im putting my upper end together for my 408 next week if time allows. I have the 8553 Felpro head gaskets already, but is there a better or more recomended gasket for this particular application?

What compression? I always used the fel pro 1008's on my small blocks....
Save the 8553's for somethingt else....

It is a 10.2:1 motor. I have looked into the flatout gaskets that hughes sells, they seem a little pricey, but if a felpro 1008 works well, I will probably check those out.

I'd run Felpro 1008 with that setup, that is what I put in my Eddie headed SB stroker.

currently got 3 sets of eddy heads being used...
360 10.6 to 1 compression with mopar .028 head gasket....street driven 73 duster with 15k miles on engine..
360 11.5 bracket race engine with ported eddy went 11.00 in vegas with ROL HG31030HT .045 thickness.
360 11.0 bracket engine with ported eddy will race this weekend for 1st time with fel pro 1008.
edelbrock gasket is a fel pro 1008 with their part number on it..just like their head bolts are arp with their part number on them
currently assemblying another 360 with kb107 going to have a set of eddy magnum heads...probably going to use the mopar .028 head gasket again..
i would say if you have good clean surface, alot of head gasket would work....just my opionion

Thanks I was thinking the eldebrocks were felpro but was unsure.But talked with eldebrock last week.
They are cheaper than the felpro 1008 and also come in a head set so that way you get everything.
