STOCK HEAD W/BIGGER VALVES

STOCK HEAD W/BIGGER VALVES - 03/15/18 12:24 AM

I came across a MP 308 bare head with 2.05 intake and 1.62 exh. All the ports are stock less the bowl cut port. Will this head make more HP with just the larger valves? Special cam specs? Since this is only 1 head, if its not going to make more HP then I won't have a used spare head modified to match. Thanks.

Author Dulcich has some informative SB porting articles & I've seen some 308 info there. You might Google it.

Nice article. Wish they had posted some pics. If a 2.02 valve is good, then 2.05 better?

I would think, if the chambers were unshrouded (which would obviously add CC's/affect your SCR) (& do bowl work).

I wish it was always that simple. But it isn’t

^^^ agreed, it'd need to be compatible with the cam etc.

So are talking a stock lift, say .430-.464 lift, with a longer duration than stock like a cheater cam?

I had some X heads that were lightly ported changed from 2.02 to 2.05 and it picked up .2 in the 1/2. This was on a 340 that was running mid 12s at the time.
