B block hydraulic lifters

B block hydraulic lifters - 02/26/18 03:46 PM

I'm sorry to have to ask but I am once again stumped.

Picked up a 383, '66 casting date machined block, crank, etc. that someone had never gotten around to assembling.

Looking at flat tappet hydraulic lifters and find some, but not all, make a distinction on year; many list '68 up, but some don't even mention it.

Is there actually a difference in lifters between 67 back and 68 up?

Thanks in advance!

67 and older had small cup in lifter, and used a matched small tipped pushrod.

Exactly.

As long as you use lifters and pushrods for the same year applcation(67 down/68 up), there is no problem.

The early, pre 1967 pushrods, are a different effective length also shruggy scope

Correct me if I am wrong but if you order the common 68 up lifers/pushrods you're all set.
