64 413 in to 69 D200 - 02/12/18 05:38 AM

not a race car but still a engine question
I have a 64 413 rebuilt 20 years ago?
never run, 30 over cast pistons flat tops
not sure on comp think 10-1
915 heads, stock cam??, dual plane intake
thinking of putting it in 69 D200 truck had 383 in it
should I leave the closed chamber heads on it?
I have fresh set of 452 heads I can use
would I lose any hp compression drop? w452's
also best cam for low end grunt?
not building racer but still want to smoke tires
will be mostly driver, will tow open trailer w my 65D100 swb on it short hauls couple times a year
thanks for any info

Heads and the cam can always be changed later. I would put it in and see how it does first before changing anything.

I would pull all the spark plugs and look very closely at all the ends to check for condensation and rust, if that is good then try rotating the motor over while priming the oil pump. If that goes good, no noticeable tight spots, then look at installing it and running it. Be very careful on the timing, jetting and gas quality with that unknown compression ratio work twocents
I'm in the middle of building a 413 H.D. truck block into a pump gas 463 C.I. motor(4.250 bore with a 4.150 stroke) for my 1963 Plymouth Fury. I'm hoping it will make a little north of 450HP with the right cam , 440 Source Stealth heads and a Eddy RPM intake with around 10.0 to 1 compression ratio luck

I've had the motor all apart checked and lubed everything
spins fine all clean and ready to go
I need to stop thinking about it and just put it in and go

As previously mentioned, I'd drop it in and see what it's like. Good compression, decent heads, mild cam, dual plane.....probably going to be a tire burner as is. Any pics of the truck?

My Dyno mule, a 426 wedge, 11.8-1 with worked over 516 heads,(the only ones I had ready at the time), a small .520 mechanical cam, an old Torquer intake, 750 Edelbrock carb, and 1-3/4" headers made 464hp@5748rpm and 508.5 ftlbs@4296 rpm.
You should do fine with what you have.
