Long wheel studs for front drum brakes

Long wheel studs for front drum brakes - 02/06/18 09:23 PM

Have B-body 11" front drums. Need longer studs.

ARP seems to have a wide selection of wheel studs, but I do not know the knurl diameter or knurl length of the OE studs.

Please help. What have you done ?

Thanks much !

Mr Gasket has correct mopar size knurl. Everybody else seems to think that Ford knurls are good enough for us. NOT.

Thanks GoManGo ! Here's what I see:

However it does say "Fits most Ford and Chrysler".
Do these look familiar ?

Your way better pressing one out now on the side that doesn't have them swedged in so you can measure the O.D. of the splines on yours.
Mopar like many of the car makers made changes in vendors and from year to year on many parts, make sure you order the proper size to start with for your car twocents scope
I went through the same thing years ago do to false misleading information in the manufacturer catalogs back then on the front wheel stud sizes on Mopars runaway

i agree with cab. it would be best to get one out and go from there. i like to see a .010-.015 press fit between the [fresh] hole size and the stud knurl. some don't agree with that, but it has worked excellent for me for many, many years. the ones you link to show what i like to see, with a .014 difference. however, in the description, it shows the knurl diameter at .665 [.024 difference]. so which is it really ? also, i prefer to press the stud replacements, rather than drawing them in with a nut and washers, which "may" stretch the threads, or beat them in with a BFH, which "may" damage the threads and/or bend the stud. support the hub/axle properly to prevent bending the flange. just my preferences, your mileage may vary......
