What weight gear oil are you guys running in your drag only cars? Conventional or Synthetic?
I'm at 3200 lbs, Dana 60 with spool, footbraking, going high 10's.

I have been running the lightest I can find easily (85/90 I think) in synthetic random cheap brands. Haven't had any oil related issues, also done lots of street miles.

Amsoil 75w90. Have sold and used it for years. We've had plenty of units apart for an inspection/gear ratio change, that had been beat on in heavy, fast cars, driven on the street for years, etc. Gears always look great. Maybe some others out there that are OK, but I've seen this stuff work for years.

I have ran the Redline "Light Weight" (blue in color) shock proof gear oil in my 8-3/4" for many years. I think it really helped it survive.
I even ran it in a daily driver 2002 Ram 1500 for a few years with no issues.

The ultimate green goop...put a couple quarts in and forget about it...
Whatever 75w140 (whatever the heavy weight is) oil I can get my hands on at the parts store. It gets hot down here and my cars all see street time, so I use the heavy crap.
