295/65 M/Ts, 72 Duster - fit?

I'd like to run the 295/65-15 ETs on this Duster, know it's gonna be tight, anyone running this deal?
Car has 002-003 springs moved in 3/4".
Planning 15x8 wheels, 4.5 BS, as the 5.5 BS wheels on it now (275/60s) have the existing tires too close to springs & need at least 1/2" spacers to clear.
I know the front of the wheel-opening will need to be pie-sliced & moved forward, no problem for me.
I might even need to bow the wheel-openings out a bit for clearance.
Currently running 1" lowering blocks, might need to lose them.
I'd like to hear from anyone running this much tire with leafs & what appears to be a stock-width 8.75 rearend.

8" rims are a bit narrow for 295s. I have 295s on 10" rims and to get them to lay a full patch, I have to get them down to 15lbs or less.

The 295s are on my 70 Cuda and I had to order special backspace wheels, use offset hangers and shackels, and grind a bit off my wheel lip moldings to get them to fit.

Good luck with putting them on an A body.

If 15x10s would work, OK by me, that's why I'm asking. I'd just like to get something around 30", wide, & grippy under this thing.
Looking/measuring with the current setup, it seems another 10mm per side is doable, but I'm looking for the experience of "those who've gone before"...
I should add that I looked through several pages of the Archives, and it seemed as though guys were running some pretty big stuff with the major concern being the front of the wheel-opening.

Don´t know if they fit a Duster, but I run Hoosier 295/65-15 on 8" rims. No problem at all.

These might help you get the ride height you want and you can ditch the lowering blocks.

Topside, are you dead set on not using the 275/60's? The Mickey Thompson Pro's are an amazing tire. Might save you some work and cutting on your car.
My car only run's 10.60's but it always hooks, I use an 8" wheel with 4.5 backspacing, stock leaf springs with one leaf added per side, Rancho 5-way shocks.

The lowering blocks are kind of experimental for ride height, as I'm not a fan in an application such as this. Car already has the 3/4" relocation kit, and I'm reluctant at this point to cut/weld in the 3"-and-minitubs kit I have laying around.
As for tire size, the 512 RB in this thing makes a butt-ton of torque; I need to drop highway RPM some (3.91s), and since I want to change wheels/tires anyway, I'm thinking along these lines.

Well, to answer my own question, a little quality time with a tape measure and what info on rim width, BS, and tire dimensions I found shows me the limits of the stock Duster/Demon wheel opening...
With the 3/4" spring relocation, a 4.5 BS wheel will allow that 295/65 ET if 2" of the outer wheelhouse tub & lip flange are dealt with: basically cutting them back, filling in the tub contour with what's basically a strip of metal, and minimizing the lip.
The front of the wheelhouse is always tight even at 28" OD, but by moving that opening forward to where the tub is, buys a little over 1.5".
All of this can should look stock with a little care.
Just to have a Plan B, I'm going to look for a 30x9.5 pickup-truck tire with a highway tread and a soft treadwear rating.

If you run out of room in front of the tire, you can move the rear axle back. Plenty of room behind the tire. The rear tires on my Cuda would rub the front of the wheel opening on bigger bumps. Simply spacing the front spring perches back 3/8" eliminated the contact.

And a good way to map out the wheel opening and the hub's position in it is to tape a piece of cardboard on the floor, position the wheel opening over it, and then use a plumb bob to trace everything onto the cardboard.

When things are this tight, the plumb bob onto cardboard is very quick, easy, and accurate. And be sure to do both sides.

Yeah Dave, I can move the rearend back, done that before on another Duster. And it seems that every one is different RR vs LR; on this car it's width, on a '74 I had it was length.
Clone, those are from US Car Tool. Nice thing about those brackets is they index off the OEM bracket location for the 3" relocation.
