I am wanting to convert my 70 Duster back to a 4 speed. Car is used for hot street and hopefully some strip. Current engine is a W5 headed 340 with solid roller cam so I want to use a blow proof bellhousing. What bellhousing do you recommend? Doesn't look like Lakewood makes a small block one anymore. Do the quicktime units fit good and work with the stock z bar? Don't mind paying a little for insurance to keep my feet.

I have a Quicktime on my Dart, it fits great but I had to build a mount for the Z arm that bolts on with the starter. The Lakewood on my Cuda is nice but it is larger and heaver. The mount for the Z arm on the Lakewood is perfect.

I was wondering about the z bar mount because the website says for use with hydraulic clutch.

The hydraulic clutch setup is good thing! Makes working on the car with headers a ton better.

My dad has a QuickTime in his duster, fits great, just had to use a diff ball for the z bar on the bell. Uncle has a Lakewood, his fits fine, it is a lot bigger as said above. I'm doing a 69, 340, 4spd swinger and will be using a QuickTime.

I've played around with some hydraulic throw out bearings in some of the dirt car we used to build and they worked fine. I'm not against a hydraulic clutch just don't want it to look like a cobbled mess in the Duster

I had a bad experience with the hydraulic throw out bearing. Never again for me.

Our stuff is just the standard throw out. Works just fine.

How long has the Lakewood been out of production?

I don't know. I just didn't see it on the website

Yeah, Summit says it's not available.

I just sold my small block dual trans pattern Lakewood. If I knew it was out of production I could have asked more for it.

Converted my B.B. dart to a 4 speed with the quicktime, took a lot of calls to brewers for help, bolt holes for the ball stud were the wrong size, z bar was far from straight so had to modify the bracket, starter positioning was slightly off so I had to elongate the hole to slightly move it away from the flywheel.

Other than that it is a nice piece and I’m sure is much lighter than the Lakewood. If you used a hydraulic t/o bearing it would probably make it a bit easier

Suppose I'll just bite the bullet and order the QuickTime. It wouldn't be hotrodding if everything fell together and fit like it should.
