Keith Black Racing update - 01/04/18 05:41 AM

Lots of pictures on Facebook

I would like to kick off the year by providing a quick update on the status of long-standing backorders, as well as make a couple of announcements that set the stage for Keith Black in 2018.

2017 was an extremely challenging period, however I’m pleased to say that all remaining backorders are now in production with most in final stages of machining and assembly (with the exception of a couple using unique castings). Either myself, or our Dealers will be in contact with each of you during the next two weeks to provide you with expected shipping dates for your engine block. If you are a backorder customer, please feel free to e-mail me at darren@keithblack.com with your up-to-date shipping and contact information, otherwise I will be touch shortly.

With 2018 in full swing we are pleased to announce that we have entered into a strategic partnership with RMC in Saginaw, MI.

RMC is a market leading, specialist-provider of ultra-high-quality CNC machining equipment and machining services to precision-engineers, high-performance engine building / race shops, and other leading brands in the aftermarket engine manufacturing business. RMC have partnered with us to machine, assemble and perform QC operations on all our HEMI and WEDGE engine block products and already have our entire inventory of blocks, components, subassemblies, as well as all existing blocks in progress in Michigan. At the same time, I can also share that we have made a substantial enhancement to our engine blocks with the introduction of 4340 Chrome Moly main bearing caps, adding even more bottom-end strength to the strongest aftermarket engine block that exists today.

Our partnership with RMC Engine will see us being able to scale up our production in the first quarter of this year, so Dealers can hold inventory of our engine-blocks in common configurations that will be ready to ship from the shelf when ordered.

While this is somewhat the end of an era for KBRE at South Gate, CA it is also a unique opportunity to both accelerate the production of traditional Keith Black engine products, and free us to bring back the Big Block Chevrolet platforms with a level of energy that we wouldn’t otherwise be able to commit to. Ken is now focusing on spearheading R&D around the Gen-3 HEMI Engine platform that will see Keith Black cement it's long-term place as a leader in extreme horsepower engines in the modern performance aftermarket.

Again, we at Keith Black would like to thank our patient customers and loyal dealers, for your support and commitment to our brand and products. We are looking forward to making 2018 count for you.

Yep. I commented on the post. First I hope everyone who is on back order gets their block. But I'm excited and interested in a block for myself. This could really change the game for high end Mopar racers as well imho.

Doesn't matter. I'll say it. I can't afford an $8,000 engine block. And don't give me crap "well then you shouldn't be racing with the big boys". I see 500-600 cid BBM engine kits offered all the time for less than what a short block would cost me to build on a Mopar platform. For instant Ray Mac just offered a 632 "ENGINE KIT" for $5,795. Not a short block, not a rotating assembly. Full engine kit with block, heads, crank, rods, pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets. It gets very frustrating after a while.

Rant over. rant

Not that this has any bearing on how things will progress from here, but if there essentially closing the KB shop in Ca........ Then the question in my mind is still..... What exactly did they buy when they bought out KB?

Honestly if it was me and I wanted to partner with Keith Black Racing I wouldn’t do it unless they moved out of California
