4150 or 4500 carb?? - 12/24/17 09:52 PM

Thinking about trying a 4500 but would like some opinions here's my combo.

446Ci 440 10.5 compression Trick Flow 240 heads 267@ .050 solid flat tappet. Victor Intake and a 80496-1 950 hp that's had some work done by Thumper. Runs on 93 pump gas. The rest of the car is 8" 5800 converter 4.10 Dana (Originally was 4.30 8 3/4 but it broke) Car weighs 3470 now with me and last time out in pretty good air it went 10.39 @ 127
The 950 runs great and has awesome shift recovery so that and the car weight has me skeptical. Thoughts???

A Wilson ported M1 combination like I used with my 240 heads would add 30 or 40 hp to your combo but it is expensive.

Every stock stroke 440 motor I added increase CFM with the carb. and intake size ran quicker and faster up Six pack outran a single four barrel and the tunnel rams with two bigger carbs. outran the six packs, same thing on going from a single 600 Holley double pumper in 1000 CFM increments up to a 950 HP, bigger was faster and quicker up boogie wrench

You could try a 1050 then but imo, fully blending/porting it into the plenum is best......... thumbs

That seems to run good. Similar to my combo. I was told to run a 4500 but I'm gonna run the quickfuel 1050an i have when I get it back together.
