I think theres a problem with my Cal-trac monos - 02/28/09 04:23 PM

I pulled the car out of the garage yesterday and the drivers side of the car is drooping about +/- 1.5 inches. Its a very noticeable droop. Is that normal. Its reminding me of the SS spring droop on one side.

Do you have any pics of your car from behind....Maybe its supposta be that way????

i would call calwert and ask, from what i have read is very good at answering stuff..
could it be that you have just had real uneven worn springs in the past and the whole car has been adjusted that way with the torsion bars?

measure your bottom of front fender to the floor and get measurements from both sides, then adjust your torsion bar accordingly to get the proper ride height.
for your cal tracs to work properly you need to get 5" of front end travel.
you dont need to call calvert

your next question is how do i figure out how to achieve 5" of front end travel.

Cut the upper controll arm rubber stops to achieve the desired travel. Mine are a bit over a 1/4" and have 5+"`s of travel.

If you just put them in and had Super Stock springs before You need to re adjust T-bars.
with the ss springs you had a ton of pre load in the left side to level car.

I had the same problem with mine 3 years ago and I had heard that Calvert had a "bad batch" of springs I could clearly see the arch was completely gone and the springs went flat.I sold them and went back to SS springs and later found out that Calvert would have replaced them.I would call them and ask them what they can do about it.

GET your desired right height which probably will be different when finding 5" of travel.
1st set ride height with car level and take the measurement from bottom of fender to center of the wheel.
2nd jack up front of the car on k member until front wheels are off the ground then take the same measurement with wheels off the ground.
the difference of the measurement of the 2 should be 5".
3rd if its less than 5" lower the torsion bar or remove the rubber stop bumper to achieve maximum travel

Had a similar problem whereby the drivers side was around 1" lower than pas side , found it was the pin that loads the caltrac had fallen out , was the snap ring that went AWOL , hence the bar slipped out , the fix was to use a nut & bolt to hold the pin.

Just remember, any time you change the torsion bar settings you MUST get the car realigned.
