BB 727 rebuild kits? - 02/28/09 01:03 PM
Who makes the best rebuild kits for the 727? I hear all this talk about different color clutches and what not, so what is the best one?

An easy way to simplify your life is to just call John at CRT. There is nothing easier and better than to talk to a Mopar friendly technician.

I buy the parts I want individually, but CRT is your one stop shopping center to make it easy and be sure of quality parts and advice.
What you need depends on your application, but these are some of the things I like to see in a race 727:
There are a couple other places that a teflon type ring is available such as the front servo, and the small rings on the input shaft.
- babbit front bushing (converter)
- Bushing kit for the rest (need drivers to install)
- New thrust washers (3 or 4 tab depending on planetaries, or even 5)
- Teflon reaction support rings (for high pressure valve bodies)
- Stock type rear clutch frictions and steels
- High quality front frictions with oil grooves (Alto Red Eagle, Raybestos HD, High Energy)
- Heavy duty rear servo retainer (0.070" thick)
- Billet rear servo for LBA valve bodies, heavier spring
- Solid (ridgid) front band, red lining (rather than flex band)
- Bronze thrust washer between output and input shafts (stock is a fiber material)
- A good quality pan gasket (rather than a cheap cork one)
- The rest of the sealing rings, rubber seals, gaskets are pretty much standard stuff
