Double Ajustable Shock Help - 11/03/17 05:50 PM

Hey Guys, I'm hoping someone can help me on this one. I'm headed to Cecil on Sunday and this will be the first time I'll be running the car with the new Viking double adjustables on the front of the car. I used to have the good old 90/10's and the car was a wheel stander. I went to the Vikings because I went to an aluminum block. Well.... the aluminum block had issues so it's back with the manufacturer so I have the old spare 440 in the car. My question is what is a good starting point for adjustment on the compression and rebound? here are some car facts
- '68 cuda; all steel except hood and front bumper
- super stock springs in the back with good old stock shocks
- automatic with 4500 stall and a brake
- motor should make in the 650hp range at the flywheel

any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What range of adjustment do the Vikings have? What do you think the car will do for 60 foot and ET? With no other information to base this on I'll say 80 pct of the range on the compression and (pretty firm) and 20 pct on the extension (fairly light). You have to start somewhere.

Start in the middle of adjustment. Watch 60 foot numbers, adjust from there.

If the purpose of the double adjustable fronts was to stop wheel stands, tighten the extension, and soften the compression.

Here is where I am set on my car. The more rebound I take out of the front, the more my 60 suffers.

Front
8 rebound
18 compression
Rear
11 RH 12 LH rebound
17 RH 15 LH compression

I have rear side to side a bit different for the twist of the chassis. Seems to work well in my car.

thanks Guys. I guess the '60 is an important part of the equation... When the car was wheel standing pretty high I had the '
500" and the '60 was around 1.35. That motor broke a crank so it's long gone. The 440 in the car now should be around 1.42 - 1.40 @ 10.50. I'm just trying to figure these things out before the aluminum block goes back in the car. That motor will be a considerable amount more power. Looks like I have some pretty good suggestions for a starting point.

The paper work that comes with the Viking shocks has some suggested settings to start from.

thanks Justin. Dad seemed to misplace the original paperwork somewhere in the garage. I did check the website and got a general idea there too. nothing beats real experience though.
