W2 Tunnel Ram-EFI

W2 Tunnel Ram-EFI - 11/03/17 04:39 PM

This is my Winter project, I found a Holley Pro Dominator W2 Tunnel Ram from a member here earlier this year. I recently just sent it off to 417Motorsports in Springfield MO to get it changed over for Port EFI. I am hoping to find some power from the tunnel ram and the additional CFM.

It is going on the W2 R1 416 that my Dad and I built for Drag week. It has shady dell ported W2s and a comp solid roller with 10:1 compression. It has been a best of 10.83@124@3600lbs. It is still pulling some vacuum on the 1000CFM 4150 throttle body so I am hoping for some improvement just from the CFM addition alone, we will see. Jess Sias another drag weaker was pulling similar vacuum(4-6KPA) on a 4150 throttle body, he switched to a 4500 throttle body and picked up 30 horsepower on a 650 horsepower combo-that would be a nice gain we will see.

I hope to gain some power from the tunnel ram, some ET from losing the heavy bondo filled stock hood, and some more power from drawing fresh air. It sounds great on paper!

Sorry about the sideways pictures seems to happen randomly.

I am going to put it on out of the box for now. It does match the ported W2s nicely as cast which surprised me, no gasket match needed.

To the op glad I found your post and look forward to see how the tunnelram works on your engine. I finally bought a Indy single plane intake for my magnum 5.9 build. But I will have to have the intake drilled for injectors. So it’s cool that there is a place close by that can do stuff like that. I only live about 68 miles from Springfield mo and didn’t know there was a place that did that kind of stuff. I mean close to me. So I am going to have to check them out.

I have a few questions if that’s ok. What size injectors and rails are you useing? I will be useing a GM LS1 computer and wiring it up to run my mopar 5.9 magnum engine. Also what I ING coils are you useing? Can’t decide which is soposed to be better car or truck ones? Well best of luck on your build

417Motorsports.com does some great work, I had seen the work they do on Drag Week so I wasn't afraid to send my stuff there. They had a good turnaround, it took about two weeks and the price was the best I found so it was win win for me to send it there. I believe those are -8 rails with -8 o ring fittings. The rails were part of the conversion price.

The coils are the GM LS truck coils. I am running a 60lb siemens injector.

That is likely how it will start. I am stressing over what hood to do. My car is exceptionally fat for an A-body and this project forcing me to get rid of the stock hood is a good thing lol.

NICE work!

I have one of those W2 Holley Manifolds sitting around waiting for a project. I have a 440" W2 and a 366" R3 9.2" deck with 48 degree W2's it could go on.

Re: W2 Tunnel Ram-EFI - 11/05/17 01:34 PM

Its funny I looked for a while and couldn't find one. I put a want add on here and someone contacted me. This one was new in the box with both 4150 and 4500 tops for a very fair price. Since then I have seen several for sale with prices all over the place.

While looking I did come across one plumbed with a nitrous system underneath it, Said it was a Winter's manifold but it looked exactly like the holley but someone had smoothed and polished it. He wanted some pretty crazy money for it and I am a reformed nitrous guy so I didn't need that back in my life lol.
