if your working on a Chevy use the Chevy techniques, if not, don't tsk
As far as using silicone on both sides of any gasket is a big NO NO in my opinion tsk
I would buy a decent gasket sealer adhesive like Gasacinch to hold the side gaskets in place on the block and a tiny dab of adhesive silicone sealer, not gasket maker silicone, in each of the four corners where the oil pan gaskets meet the rear main cap and the timing cover up front. I do coat both sides of the gasket with the sealer and let it dry to seal both sides before installing the gasket on the block up
Then install the oil pan with all the bolts in place and slowly tighten them up evenly on both sides until the bolts start to get snug, once that is done use the factory torque specs on the bolts three or four times letting the gasket set for 5 to 10 minutes between each tightening up scope
IHTHs thumbs

Use the felpro 1 piece rubber gasket with a little sealer on the edge of the front cover and rear brg cap works fine

I believe they do for a 360 because of the Magnum engines. I have never tried one though.

Do the LA 360 engines have the groove in the real main bearing cap like the Magnum engines? I machined my 340 cap so I could use the magnum rear sump pan with that one piece gasket. Not sure about the early 360 though. It needs that groove to work.

Be very cautious with the pan you have if you plan on running a magnum pan gasket. They will work with a milodon pan, but won’t with a moroso. The rear lip is grooved on a moroso, which pushes the magnum gasket forward or back, causing a leak. Ask me how I know...

yes they do & a tip is to thread several studs into the block pan rail threads as a guide so you can set the pan straight down on the gasket WO haveing to shift it around to line up the holes which hurts the sealing.
